Proxy Parenting

proxy parent nanny

We specialise in placing Temporary proxy parents with both local and overseas clients.

My Travelling Nanny is the only Nanny agency in the UK specialising in Temporary proxy parent placements. If you’re seeking a Nanny to look after your children while you are away for a temporary period, then we can help you.

We have 8 years experience in the Temporary childcare industry, meaning that we are easily able to source high calibre temporary nannies across the UK and the rest of the world, either planned and booked in advance or at short notice for emergency bookings.

Proxy parents are often booked because of parents travelling for work, holidaying/honeymooning or to attend a family event that children are not invited to. In these situations the temporary nanny is acting as a parent would, living in with the children and ‘stepping in the shoes of the parent’ for the duration of the booking. This usually includes maintaining children’s routines, driving them to activities, helping with homework or organising stimulating activities and preparing meals.

What can I expect from a Proxy Parent?

Proxy parent nannies always live-in, and they can booked for any duration from 24 hours to multiple weeks/months.

Our experienced temporary nannies can care for children of any age, and are used to juggling children of different ages single handedly in other proxy parent positions.

Exact duties depend on the length of booking, and can be flexible based on the family needs. They can include (but are not limited to):

  • Children’s meal preparation

  • Ensuring children’s rooms are kept tidy

  • Helping with homework

  • Driving or transporting the children to and from school/activities

  • Engaging and stimulating the children with appropriate educational or physical activities

  • Arranging play-dates or trips out (with parents consent)

  • Bathing and putting the children to bed (following parents routines).

  • Informing parents of any situations

  • Being the ‘guardian’ responsible for children, if they are sent home sick from school for example

  • Administering any medication (with guidance from parents)

  • Washing the childrens clothes or uniforms.
